You may really love 3-button suits with huge lapels, but if you are a bigger guy, it's probably not the best wedding suit for you. Here are a few tips for you, whether you are short, tall, round or firm.

Shorter men should avoid longer suit jackets, as they will only serve to emphasis your stature. Go for jackets with lower buttons to give you a taller silhouette. Avoid wide lapels and go for peak lapels, as they will also make you appear taller. Show a bit of shirt cuff, as this will make your arms look longer, and consequently make you look taller. Finally, opt for slim-lined shoes.

Taller men should avoid suits with gridiron sized shoulder pads, as they will make you look like a little boy in your father's suit jacket. You should look at two-button suits and should be prepared to show very little shirt cuff, as you're tall enough as it is! When it comes to shoes, you probably already have quite large feet, so try on more rounded shoes than pointed slim ones.

Bigger men should avoid suits that have high buttons, as they'll only draw attention to your midsection. Opt for a single or two-buttoned jacket with the buttons set low. Wear a simple, one colour shirt and a tie and jacket lapel that compliment your shape (so a bit wider). Pocket squares also look great on larger men, as do wide, traditional shoes.

More muscular men should avoid suits that are quite roomy, as bigger suits can make you look chubby instead of athletic. Two or three-button jackets look good, as do fitted shirts. Your shirt collar can be a bit more dramatic, and your shoes should follow the advice of their taller counterparts and wear a modern yet rounded shoe.
