If She Dares...
This is a tip for the maid or matron of honour...a few fun "Dares" to challenge the bride and spice up the Hen's Night.

A common activity on a hen's night is the dreaded list of "Dares". Lauren and I can attest to these - having both faced a few challenges on our own hen's evenings.
These are a series of tasks the bride must complete on her hen's night - tasks that are fun, albeit often slightly embarrassing.
Dares certainly spice up the evening, but remember, they should be tailored to the individual. A bride who has a fear of speaking in public should not be made to sing "Thong Song" in front of 50 drunken revelers...nor should a Mormon be asked to fit a condom over a beer bottle. Try to make them a bit crazy but not completely tacky - and most of all, fun for EVERYONE.
Here are a few ideas:
- Word Dare: Every time a particular word - maybe a commonly used swear word - is spoken by the bride, she has to take a drink. This is one the whole group can do too, so all the pressure isn't on the bride.
- Undress: Remove an item of underwear without leaving the room or bar.
- Street performer: Stand in a spot designated by the chief bridesmaid and act like the chosen street performer or character for a particular length of time (i.e. mermaid, mime, pony).
- Random collection: Collect a bag of random "groceries" over the course of the evening - i.e. a , a pair of men's boxers, a drink's umbrella, a highlighter, a woman's lipstick, a coaster...)
- Signature: Have the bride sign her autograph on at least 10 people's business cards throughout the evening - and seal it with a red lipstick kiss.
Here also is a Top Ten list that Lauren came up with, which has proved a hit in the past:
Then there's my favourite part of Lauren's special dares sheet...the conditions. They state: We must get photographic evidence of you performing all of these tasks. If we do not manage to take one whilst you are performing the task, you will have to do it again. So make sure the list checker is watching!
One final idea: to make it more of a team effort, how about making the dares punishable to all members of the hen's night? For instance, every time a girl mentions her partner's name she has to take a drink or do the running man. This way the bride is not singled out, and you'll certainly have a lot more embarrassing moments to remember and recap after the night!
NOTE: This photo was not supplied by Wellington Photographers...it is actually Lauren on her own Hen's Night. Doesn't she look lovely!
