The Vegas style wedding - it doesn't exist here, as far as I know. Although you could always buy an old church and put up a neon sign...I kid, I kid!

If you are looking to elope to an Elvis-themed chapel, you're out of luck in New Zealand. However, you do have options if you want your wedding to be quick and painless.

There is always the option of visiting your local registry office and marrying there. It's certainly quick - it only takes 3 days to get the paperwork through - and there's absolutely no fuss.

My feeling is, though...if you want something a bit zanier, but still short and fuss-free, apply a little bit of thought to it and get a celebrant. Remember, you can marry anywhere, anytime (if you are not adhering to particular religious requirements). I've done small, quicky weddings at the airport, on the beach, on the lawn of Antrim House, in a friend's flat...I just approached people and asked them to be witnesses. Alternatively, you could just have a quick ceremony at your home - which you could dress up as a Vegas chapel, if that's what you like!
