Table for 100, Please

Just because you go there every Saturday night doesn't mean you can't go the night of your wedding!

When you look for your wedding reception venue, don't be afraid to think outside the square.

Traditional spots, like hotels, function centres and estates, are amazing wedding reception venues. However, if you are a non-traditionalist, don't feel like you have to get married where you know you won't feel 100% right.

I can't imagine a rock chick in a purple wedding gown dancing away in a mahogany panelled country club sipping champagne out of Waterford crystal.

You want your wedding day to be memorable - memorable for the times you share with the people you love in a place you feel happy and comfortable.

I think it's a fantastic idea to have your reception at your favourite bar or restaurant. You know you love their food or their signature cocktail - so why not enjoy it on your wedding day? Even more, they may have a trendy décor that fits in perfectly with your style...which means you can save quite a bit of money on decorations, flowers etc.

Take Good Luck Bar in Wellington, for example. It's a beautiful bar that has a romantic ambiance. It's probably not a spot you had thought about before, but it is a great setting for a romantic, cosy reception with your favourite friends and family.

You know your drinks will be made the way you like them...your food will be cooked to your tastes...and the service will be as you expect. What's more, you know your friends and family, who've you no doubt spent time with at your favourite restaurant or bar, will feel just as comfortable as you!
