What does "No Gifts Please" mean?
My husband and I have been invited to a friend's wedding early next year, and on the invitation, it has written, "No Gifts Please". Does this mean they want money instead, or does it mean they just want us to join them for their celebration with no gifts whatsoever?

Your second guess is correct! If a couple specify on their wedding invitation that they would not like gifts, then they do not expect presents of any sort - whether a candelabra or a wad of cash. You should therefore by no means feel inclined to show up to the wedding with a gift.
