Gardens in Napier
We would love to have an outdoor wedding, but we are having difficulties finding a venue. Many of the parks and gardens in the region (Hawke's Bay) are in poor condition, located in high traffic zones or are too far from town for our elderly guests to travel. The only nice garden that allows ceremonies before 4pm is for sale and is not taking bookings. We can't afford a vineyard - any ideas?

I tracked down a good friend who was born and raised in the Hawkes Bay and married there in February 2008. I've spent a bit of time there, but I thought I'd speak to a local to make sure you were steered in the right direction!
The botanical gardens in Napier do make for a lovely backdrop; plus, they are only about a five-minute drive from Napier city up the hill.
There are also some lovely gardens in the centre of the city - Clive Square and Marine Parade - as well as a lovely park a wee bit outside the middle of town called Anderson Park.
There's also a great venue - Sanctuary Gardens - that has a host of settings and garden backdrops for a beautiful wedding. Check out their website: www.sanctuarygardens.co.nz
Your best bet is to contact Napier Council to determine where will suit your wedding guests and timing. Check out their website and then give them a call - they are lovely and should be able to give you the best advice!
